MyCare Technologies As A Crisis Intervention Tool

Lt. Gene Bradley with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office showing MyCare Technologies

Lt. Gene Bradley, the Mental Health Coordinator for the Oklahoma County Sheriffs’ Office, uses MyCare Technologies to respond to mental health crises in the greater Oklahoma City metro area

Empowering Law Enforcement in the Field

Law enforcement officers are often the first to arrive when someone is in a mental health crisis. But they shouldn’t be the only ones responsible for resolving it.

MyCare equips officers with iPads that connect directly to licensed behavioral health clinicians — available 24/7/365. Within seconds, someone in crisis is speaking to a trained professional. The officer is no longer alone in the moment. The scene de-escalates. The right level of care is provided on-site — often without the need for transport, arrest, or ER involvement.

Measurable outcomes are being delivered to law enforcement and behavioral health centers through MyCare. With this support, unnecessary hospitalizations, arrests, and use of force are being significantly reduced. Officers are being empowered to respond more safely and effectively, and greater collaboration is being established between public safety and behavioral health systems.

How It Works — Step by Step in the Field

1. Officer Encounters Someone in Crisis

An officer arrives on scene and recognizes that someone is in a behavioral health crisis.

3. Real-Time Clinician Assessment

The clinician connects with the individual through the tablet to de-escalate, assess, evaluate, and determine next steps.

5. Coordinated Transport

The clinician connects with the individual through the tablet to de-escalate, assess, evaluate, and determine next steps.

2. One Tap for Help

The officer taps the “Crisis Call” button their MyCare tablet. Within seconds, a clinician from their local mental health provider joins the call via secure video.

4. The Right Level of Care

The clinician determines whether crisis stabilization or inpatient hospitalization is needed, or if the person was de-escalated – coordination of follow-up care.

6. From Crisis to Care

MyCare helps officers connect individuals to support, reducing repeat calls and improving safety – saving time, resources, and lives.

Supporting Law Enforcement in the Field

Equipping law enforcement officers with MyCare tablets allows officers to connect individuals in a mental health crisis with a licensed mental health professional through a face-to-face video call. On this call, providers are able to assess and evaluate the individual to determine the best level of care.
