MOBILE, Ala. (Oct. 22, 2025) — MyCare Technologies, a leader in connected behavioral-health innovation, has partnered with AltaPointe Health to launch a pilot program designed to reduce unnecessary 911 calls and improve access to timely mental-health care.
Under the initiative, individuals who frequently contact emergency services will receive iPads configured exclusively to connect with AltaPointe Health clinicians or peer specialists through secure, real-time video sessions. The program seeks to divert non-emergency behavioral-health calls away from traditional 911 response, conserving public-safety resources while ensuring compassionate care for individuals in crisis.
“This initiative demonstrates how technology can strengthen communities,” said Jeff Hunter, CEO of MyCare. “By bridging the gap between behavioral health and emergency response, we’re helping people get the right care at the right time without overburdening first responders.”
Builds on proven success
The MyCare model has already shown measurable results in Oklahoma, where iPads deployed in police patrol units and community programs connected first responders directly to behavioral-health clinicians. Those pilots reduced unnecessary hospitalizations and improved outcomes for individuals in crisis while freeing public-safety resources for true emergencies.
The approach was highlighted in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s 2025 Behavioral Health Crisis System Toolkit, which described Oklahoma’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic program. The toolkit noted the state’s use of remote access to mental-health professionals through iPads in patrol cars as an innovative component of its crisis-response model.
“It’s encouraging to see this model featured in a national framework that’s reshaping how communities deliver behavioral-health care,” said Hunter. “We’re proud to bring this proven approach to Alabama in partnership with AltaPointe Health.”
Collaborative public-safety effort
The program builds on AltaPointe Health’s ongoing partnership with the City of Mobile Public Safety, aligning behavioral-health professionals and first responders to create a more integrated and responsive system. By offering virtual access to care through MyCare technology, the initiative ensures that individuals in need receive immediate support while public-safety teams remain focused on critical incidents.
