Oklahoma City embraces a community-driven approach to handling crisis calls, leveraging MyCare’s innovative technology to enhance the support provided to residents.
Community Mental Health Partners
Three Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs)—HOPE, Red Rock, and NorthCare—serve as key partners in this initiative. MyCare iPads connect law enforcement officers directly to mental health professionals at these clinics. Officers encountering a crisis can initiate a video call for immediate assessment. This allows trained clinicians to de-escalate situations in real time and recommend appropriate actions. Options include referrals to an Urgent Recovery Center (URC), follow-up care, or other essential resources.
How OKC Mental Health Partners Use MyCare to Support Law Enforcement
This innovative approach enables law enforcement to focus on public safety. At the same time, mental health professionals provide critical crisis stabilization. Collaboration among these community resources ensures individuals receive the appropriate care. This reduces unnecessary law enforcement involvement and improves outcomes for those in need.
Oklahoma City’s Unique Crisis Response
This unique mobile crisis response network plays a critical role in this system. Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) remains the largest referral source to CCBHCs in the area. This highlights the integral role partnerships play in community well-being.
Through MyCare iPads and strengthened relationships between law enforcement and CCBHCs, this model revolutionizes crisis response. Together, law enforcement provides a safety net, while mental health professionals deliver the expertise to ensure better outcomes for all.
